I thought I might give a little review of The Fabulous Thunderbirds DVD entitled "Invitation Only". It's a fourteen song performance that was originally webcast back in 2002 as part of a radio promo.

I've been a fan of the T-Bird's since back in the "Butt Rockin'" days when Jimmie Vaughn handled the guitar chores. I've always been a sucker for blues and roots music, so this has been in my DVD player off and on for the last six months. This latest incarnation of the 'Birds features Kid Ramos on guitar and he's great. I been a fan of his since he was with the Red Devils, and I've seen him at some little clubs in Los Angeles.
The DVD features a complete horn section and two keyboard players, as well as female backing singers adding to the T-Bird's hot roots rocking sound. Kim Wilson (leader and lead singer) is in fine form, having dropped a few pounds and looking buff. The rest of the band rocks and I really enjoyed the DVD. They play a good selection of old hits and a few covers, and Kid Ramos really stands out on "The Things I Used To Do" and "Look Watcha Done". He mainly plays his 50's Fender Esquire, plus a vintage Strat and a nice old Gibson Jazz Box.
The DVD has a couple extra features including two up close and personal guitar lessons with Kid Ramos where he shows how he plays "Wait On Time" and "Wrap It Up".
